Zserver Backup is a software that allows companies to protect their non-operational data backup stores (magnetic tapes, CD/DVD, external hard drives, etc.) by automatically encrypting the backup stream during normal backup operations.
Zserver Backup is designed to work in tandem with prominent conventional backup systems, such as BrightStor ™ ARCserve ® Backup and Veritas Backup for servers. Zserver Backup is installed on servers that directly interact with the tapes support services (Tape Engine Service). Installation on the backup agent systems is not required.
Zserver Backup installation does not change the backup systems or any of the existing data backup processes. It intercepts the data backup stream, encrypts it and sends it down to the backup device driver to be written to the device media. As the result, data is stored on the media in encrypted state and is not readable by any system that has not supplied proper encryption key during the data rollback procedure (restoring of data from backup media back to server).
Encryption is performed on the sector level by the backup system. To initiate the data backup encryption process, encryption key needs to be loaded and get associated with the backup stream. The key is stored in the system’s virtual memory and is never written to the hard disk. All these administration tasks are completed via Zserver Administrator console, which allows you to download and activate the encryption key streamer. Zserver Backup can be launched and managed locally or remotely using TCP/IP secured connection.
When a backup system attempts to read the encrypted tape without the encryption key, the tape will be recognized by the system as of unknown type or size.
Supported Operating Systems:
Zserver Suite secures and protects confidential information at the processing and storage level on corporate servers. Zserver Suite’s hard disk encryption functions transparently, performing server-side data encryption in real-time by writing the encrypted data directly to the storage media device and decrypting upon data read-back. This unique write/read encryption process forms the foundation of Zserver Suite’s data storage security, ensuring the safety and security of data even if the storage media device is removed. None of the data, including the file allocation tables or any Zserver Suite supporting files, are accessible without authorized encryption keys. With Zserver Suite’s hard disk protection system, valuable data cannot be compromised, even if the storage media device is removed.
Zserver Suite not only prevents leakage of confidential corporate data, but actually hides the data’s existence from unauthorized access and personnel. The information is available only when a network administrator grants a user or application proper access rights to the protected data.
Zserver Suite functions transparently for both network administrators and end users with the encryption of data performed in real-time as a background process. The encryption key is loaded to the server during boot-up using a smartcard and a PIN-code combination. Entering an incorrect PIN-code three times blocks the smartcard and forces a restart, after which the server will block user access to encrypted files and data. The smartcard is only required when connecting to the encrypted media and can be removed once the connection is established and the encryption key is loaded.
Zserver Suite encrypts most types of data storage hardware and devices including IDE and SCSI hard drives, RAID mirrored drives, CD/DVD optical disks and magnetic tapes, making Zserver Suite a viable, cost-effective alternative to other encrypted storage hardware solutions such as network storage appliances.
Zserver Suite supports remote encryption keys and system administration from any workstation, LAN, or via Internet.
At present, the Zserver Suite runs on following operating systems:
• Windows 2000/XP/2003/2008 (32 - and 64-bit);
• Linux kernel 2.6.x.
Some of the biggest security threats to a company’s confidential information can come from its disloyal and/or disgruntled employees. An unhappy worker with privileged data access rights could cause an organization more damage than any outside attack. That is because the insider knows what the company’s most valuable data assets are and where to look for them. Things are getting more difficult when the offender knows how to circumvent the detection mechanisms in order to get hold of that data unnoticed.
This is especially true during economic downturns when a company is reducing its staff to preserve capital. Naturally, there is an increased anxiety and distress among the workforce throughout such times and an organization should not underestimate potentially devastating effects of misuse of data by its employees. The problem is significantly intensified by a widespread proliferation of mobile storage devices connected via USB ports, such as flash-memory drives, hard drives, MP3 players and other digital recording media. Unless these USB and other peripheral devices are locked down and monitored, they provide a convenient, virtually undetectable way to obtain and move around vast amounts of corporate data.
Zlock was specifically designed and developed to address today’s corporate needs to secure and manage various computer ports including USB, LPT, Firewire, Serial, etc. Zlock provides lockdown of computer ports and management console to implement a port/device user access control. The user access control, which is based on access control lists (ACL), is tightly integrated with Active Directory (AD). System administrators can take full advantage of the existing AD user groups, which can be assigned various port/device access levels, such as: allowing full access; read only; or denying the access altogether.
USB-pluggable or other devices can be classified by different criteria, such as device type, device code, device manufacturer and serial number, etc. This enables system administrators to create custom port/device access policies based on any defined device classification and assign them to users. For example, a device access policy could be defined to prohibit use of any USB-flash drive, but authorize use of USB tokens to authenticate users.
Keep your existing email address
Regardless of what your email address is, there is no need to change or modify it. Keep sending emails exactly the same way as you do now, except now you can send them secured, encrypted and with any of the features of NKrypt.
Instant security and encryption
Send your sensitive client data and attachments using 128 bit SSL Secure Data Transmission and 256 bit AES Data Storage Encryption. These are the same protocols used in your on-line banking environment.
True real time tracking and audit trail
In addition to knowing when your email was read, you will now know if it was printed, deleted, or forwarded. In fact, you will even know to whom it was forwarded! Now that's an audit trail!
Complete recall
Client hasn't paid you? Perform a full and complete recall of all emails and attachments sent to the client without requiring their permission, straight out of their inbox.
Mega file size attachments
Reduce your printing, faxing and courier costs! Using NKrypt, you can email attachments upto 250MB per email. Forget about burning that large file onto a CD/DVD. Just email it! And remember, it's secured and encrypted.
Integrated voice and video messaging
Built right within N-Krypt, you can send voice and video messages by simply clicking record and send (web cam required). Save time and avoid lengthy text emails by sending instead a personal video message to create that feeling of a face-to-face meeting. And remember, voice and video messages are also secured and encrypted. Truly the next generation in email communication!
Control reply and forward capabilities
Don't want the recipient of your email to be able to reply or forward it? No problem. It's your email and now you can control what the recipient can do with it. Create accountability and be in control of your emails
Universal access
N-Krypt (powered by email2) was built for use with Microsoft Outlook 2003/07. It will integrate in a wide variety of email clients, including mobile devices such as Blackberry, iPhone, and WM with zero-impact to your existing infrastructure. The online web client will enable you to access your emails and attachments from just about anywhere in the world.
